From where to where? Is it in a pot? Is it in ground? From pot to ground?

  If at all possible, dig the new hole and amend as necessary first. Cover with burlap and water down to keep damp.
  
  No mater what you do, it will go into shock even if you keep the rootball in tact. Just know it may take several years to start producing again depending on the age of the tree. Cal Poly SLO is your local Ag Extension. Contact them for suggestions that might not be covered in the links above.

It depends How big it is. But in general the best way is to remove some of the branchs by cutting them a little bit the help the tree to re-grow. then you can dig and take it out with as much as roots than possible
