How can I landscape in front of my house?

We have a ranch style house and I'm wanting ideas for landscaping along the house in the front!! We've done the shrub thing!! Sick of dealing with them. I do have Abelias in the front along the house in the middle of the flower bed. I'm needing something to anchor the bed on both ends of the house!! Our house is facing s.w. and has basically full sun!! Zone 7B, Memphis. Thank you in advance!!

We took out the old nasty looking shrubs we had along the front of our house. They hadn't been cared for a few years when it was a rent house until the owners sold it. Leaves had piled up on top of them and they were literally growing along the ground. Our yard is very shaded once the trees leaf out, so we turned one side into a hosta garden, tying in the with the Hostas along the other side of the sidewalk and the end of the garden. The other side we turned into a sitting area with pavers. The front door is in the middle of the house in front, so separating the areas was really easy. Hosta gardens are exceptionally easy to care for once they are established.

I would do a drive-by of houses in my neighborhood and take photos of landscapes that you love and use these as inspiration. You can also take these photos to a landscaping company and ask them to design a layout for you. Most will do it for free if you buy the plants from them.
