Hi ! We used a peel and stick textured wood look vinyl planks flooding . It was super easy to put down !! No special tools , just a carpet cutter or heavy duty scissors to cut the planks . They come in all different wood tones ,I picked a grayish with some brown mixed in . My floor looks Great !!! And it only cost about $35 !!!!!

You could paint it and stencil it to look like tile.
