Dogs can be brutal on grassed areas, unless well trained. Can you restrict their activities to a specific area of your yard?
Any grass seed you plant will require a sufficient period of growth before dogs can be in the area.
You should ask a master gardener in your area or a vet, who probably has encountered this situation, relative to your specific growing area and conditions.
In general, grass seed blends survive much better than single types, but again, this is relative to your region.
Olivia provided excellent suggestions. I feel your pain, there are 6+ dogs in my back yard daily. I am in zone 9 and planted marathon fescue with clover mixed in. Love it! Contact your local Ag Extension and chat with a Master Gardener at a reputable nursery in your area. I did have to keep the dogs off for at least a good month. So many walks are in your future unless you can take them elsewhere.
