As a renter, about all you can do is add a table or something next to the vanity, but that would also take away the toilet paper roll holder, and it would also be in the way unless you can take it off without damaging anything. It really looks like you should have enough room to get ready with the counter space you have. It is more than I have had in maybe twenty five years and that included five people using the same bathroom.

Mount a shelf as wide as possible to the wall,beyond the end of the countertop (if your landlord permits making holes in the wall). You may need wall anchors mounted into wall studs to support the weight.

You can always mount additional shelves father up on the same wall, for additional items.

Why not use a narrow trolly on wheels with casters instead or a shelf instead.........

I don’t know if it would fit but I’ve seen those space saving carts that you put between washer and dryer. They are skinny and have shelves so you could Temporarily remove the tp holder and put it in the cabinet to be reinstalled to the cabinet when you move out. Place the tp and a back up on one of the shelves if the shelf is wide enough. If not, maybe get the kind of tp holder that hangs on the tank if it’ll fit on the other side or a freestanding one if it’ll fit in front. All this is assuming that cart will fit the space and be the right height. Good luck!

You could build a narrow table to fit over the toilet. Get your measurements for height and width and take them to your lumber store once you pick you lumber, they will make the cuts for you. I would guestimate a 12 ft piece the width you need would be plenty, but your measurements will give you the lenght of lumber you need. Consider a Murphy bed type shelf that you can open just for makeup time. Even if over the toilet. You could build it a little thicker and put small shelves on it when in the UP position.

There are shelving units sold that have legs on each side of the toilet tank, see if you can find one that suits your needs.

You could also place a bracket on each side of the toilet tank, that will hold a shelf. Then put a melamine closet shelf cut to size, resting on the brackets.

If the toilet tank needs to be accessed, just lift the shelf off. You often see bathroom vanity tops configured this way.

Get one of those little tables that fit over the seat of a sofa with supports that slide under the sofa. It would leave an opening around the TP holder and you could attach a small shelf to extend the counter top.

If you got an over the toilet storage tower, you could hinge a melamine shelf as a drop down door. It would become a bit of counter space with chains to hold it when opened. Be sure to keep toilet lid down incase the lipstick rolls off :-)

So many wonderful ideas! I so appreciate them, each one. The vanity looks larger than it really is because my camera can only take panaramic shots (reg. camera lens broken). I love the Murphy bed idea and am trying to do that by adding an 8" shelf at the right end. I think it's all in the brackets I choose. And I've thought of building a narrow table to stand over the toilet paper roll, as it is ceramic and I'd rather leave it alone. The narrow trolley actually might work, as well as the shelf they have between the washer and dryer. I may check out what is online with the tall shelving over the toilet. Thanks again!!!
