How do I start patching bare spots on my lawn?

The rest of the lawn is fine. It's sod we put in about 4 yrs.ago. Also how do i put lawn seed down in the backyard.

Rake out dead grass and sprinkle more grass seed tramp down and add top soil into the area. Sprinkle with water. It should soon grow.
