How do I stop the flow of water to my basement door?

I’m so sorry this is happened, but it sounds like something I would’ve done.

Can you add some extra dirt to replace the dirt that you took out and place small rocks on top to disperse the water which might look nice in your flower bed without disturbing that?

I know when we created a kind of moat in our backyard to disburse water that was pooling up; my husband & I dig up the dirt and placed rocks in that area and the water no longer pools up.

In other areas where that didn’t work we had to bury a pipe with holes drilled in it, the dirt on top of that and then rock on top of that.

Anna,. Try some fire wood logs, if you can, to direct the water away from the basement door. Pile them up, in a diamond shape fashion. Aloha!

For the time being place a 2 or 3 concrete blocks against the foundation of the house. Attach a plastic tarp (large enough to cover the area that is lower than the grass or whatever is adjacent to the bed) to a piece of plywood large enough to cover the area the length and about 3 feet out away from the house Place the board on the blocks so it is raised higher than the area about 3 feet away from the house. The board must be sloped away from the house. You can cover the board with a tarp if you want to reuse the board. Be sure the board is level at the top and bottom or the water will run off the sides. When it is warm enough you can add drainage stones along the bed against the house. I would go about down 4” below current ground level. Dig away from the house 18-24”. Fill that area with the stone so that it is higher than the outside edge of the bed. If the slope is about 3 inches. It will help with drainage. I would place an edging material along the stone part to keep the stones in place. Then be sure any mulch used is no higher than the stone area. Also, be sure the gutter above is not clogged if there is one above the bed.
