Karen do you want a different color, New hardware can update it.
The glass can be replaced, painted, frosted,covered with material.
Add a detail like thin wood to create a picture frame look on the drawers or doors.
Its a great piece!
Also you could paint inside or cover with material or a pattern of something for a pop of color or texture.
Karen....It's really lovely to me! Clean well, sand, remove hardware and paint after priming or use paint with primer added. If the hardware will clean and you like it use it again but new hardware will add a lot I believe. If the piece has some age on it you may need to take a piece of the hardware with you to match the length so you won't have to change the holes. I would look at some antique stores too if replacing. I have this same cabinet! I gave it a fresh coat of white paint. I took the hinges and handles off and cleaned them as the paint was thick on them. I soaked them in white vinegar. This was my aunt's cabinet so I wanted it to remain "antique" I am currently thinking of putting wall paper inside or putting chicken wire on the doors Or a simple glass stencil. I use it to store my quilts
After sanding to bare wood, vacuum the surfaces, tack cloth, then prime and paint., applying a good quality sealer of 3 coats.
These cabinets could be "reverse painted" on the interior glass sides, with a stencil or free hand design, and a thin line of "edging". You could repeat your center design on the lower doors, if you wish.

How about just a new coat of paint and cleaning or replacing the hardware (not the hinges though)? It looks like it’s in good shape already, so it doesn’t need much work. I love this cabinet, I would clean it up, prime it with a stain blocking primer and paint it a fresh new color not white, for me, but teal would be beautiful. You can take the hardware off and boil in a pot and the paint will come right off. You can spray the hardware with Rustoleum. D. Lawless has beautiful hardware that is not expensive. I would not use chalk paint. I would get a good acrylic and either spray paint it or use a mohair roller so you do not have brush marks.
