White vinegar is a mild acid that is known to kill roughly 82 percent of mold species, and it can even help prevent mold outbreaks in the future.

Pour plain, white distilled vinegar into a spray bottle. Because mold is such a resilient force, it's best not to dilute the vinegar.

Spray the vinegar directly onto the mold, and let it sit for at least an hour without rinsing or scrubbing so that the vinegar gets completely absorbed by the mold.

Rinse the area with clean, warm water.

Spray the area again with either the vinegar or the baking soda solution and let the chemicals dry naturally to help kill any remaining mold and prevent regrowth. The strong smell of vinegar will naturally fade within a few hours.

  • You cant paint over mold It will keep coming back. You must have a water leak somewhere that is causing the mold. You need to solve that issue first then clean the mold off, seal the wall and then repaint. Good luck.

  • There are several ways to get rid of mold, but most importantly, you need to address the root cause to keep it from returning. This is a great article that covers methods of how to remove mold (mostly for the bathroom but the concept is universal), if bleach is safe to use, and how to prevent it from coming back. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

  • I agree with all above, you need to find the source of what is causing the mold to begin with or you'll be fighting a never ending battle.

no. 1 find and fix leak. it may just need to put caulking around it on outside of house and or inside. if u can save sheetrock or not have to remove it. the best way ro kill mold is to mix half store brand vinegar 5% acidity and cheap store brand vodka in a spray bottle. it will kill the mold and it won't regrow in that spot. i have used this method many times and work great.

I agree with the others. There must be water coming in and that has to be taken care of first.

I agree with everyone else, you need to find the leak first. The mold might be behind the drywall and is growing behind the walls. No matter what you do on the outside if it’s behind the walls it will spread all through the house. This can become the black mold that can cause serious health problems.

If it’s a small area like I had in my bathroom I sprayed pure bleach on it. Let it dry then sprayed again and also let it dry. Then I gave it a fresh coat of paint. Haven’t seen any mold since. At least 2 years. I used a small spray bottle to do the job.

Exactly how I fixed the problem on a wall in my basement. It’s not a lot of work doing it this way. As others have said be sure the leak is fixed first.

Once the mold problem is fixed and the last of the mold is cleaned off, I would paint it with a primer/sealant paint, like Killz. Then repaint with your room paint. Not much gets thru Killz!

If you have mold like this you have MAJOR problem! we had small water leak & never even saw mold just the dampness, opened walls and it ended up being 3 rms/connecting walls gutted; 12,000 in damages. It could be coming up thru/across flooring walls, down from roof line,in from window area, call your home owners warranty or home owners insurance on info. where to begin and reputable comp they can provide. if you don't stop water source you are wasting time trying to kill the mold. This needs professional attention. nothing to mess with or try to cover up. Mold like this can cause serious long term health affects especially for kids or eldery. health/mold https://www.everydayhealth.com/healthy-living/healthy-home/hidden-dangers-black-mold/

A lot of great answers above. You can kill the mold but how about the mold spores. Please research before doing anything. This looks like black mold which is dangerous to humans and pets too
