How do you repair a red leather couch where the red rubbed off?

I had guest over for dinner, and when they left I noticed that in the MIDDLE of my sectional, someone had actually "rubbed" the leather off - you can see that there isn't really a hole, but the color is "hanging." I tried glueing it back; it pulled it off.

Diane so sorry this happened. This means the color was just a thin layer. Is there a warranty on your couch? I would calll the manufacturer and maybe you can get some help, a patch or the right color to match it. The only repair kits I’ve seen are for rips in black, tan or brown leather that’s split.

    Thats aweful!

Might try a better adhesive i prefer gorilla products and add some weight to the top such as heavy books, with something like parchment paper or similar to put between area and books to prevent the glue from adhering to them.

I would buy one of those small spray ink brushes, the kind they use for toy model kits & also for spray-tanning or spray-makeup. Then go buy one of those liquid vinyl car seat repair kits or if you can, the right matching color of liquid vinyl. Put the liquid vinyl in the spray brush bottle. You will probably have to thin it out with something. Check to see what would be best, maybe just alcohol. It can't be thick or it won't spray. Thinner liquid is better. Tape off the area to be painted with a painter's tape. Clean area with rubbing alcohol. Scrape edges where color has come up to get rid of any loose material. Spray a thin layer to cover the area rubbed off & the area around it. Let dry or use hairdryer to speed drying. Then repeat as many times as needed until rubbed spot is covered well. After you remove tape, you can put some more of the thinned vinyl paint & rub it gently into the area & beyond with a very soft cloth, blending the color into the surrounding area. You may need to rub on a clear vinyl sealer for protection or use one of the auto interior sprays made for protection.

I repaired my son's faux leather sofa with the As Seen On TV leather repair kit ( on Amazon.com ) & it came out great! It had a huge slice in the seat of the sofa and the arms color was worn from shiny black to a dreadful dull finish. It now looks like new! Good Luck :)
