Apartments fit projects?

I love your DIY projects for homes and cleaning. But can you please show more DIY projects for apartments but within the understanding of the Texas lease? Like how to build a vegetable garden on your patio. Roaches. Small to no pantry ideas. Improvising a small washer and dryer room.

  • There are hundreds of projects here on Hometalk. Have you spent time browsing? This is a DIY site where people like you and me post our projects. Hometalk does not control what is posted.

For roaches, contact your landlord. Nothing you do will prevent them. The entire building needs to be treated by an exterminator. By law they must do this. If they refuse, contact your local HUD office. You have rights, know them.

You can have a few flowers and maybe some tomatoes and herbs on a patio, but that is about it. Gardens can be very messy and neighbors complain.

Roaches, there are sprays, etc. you can use that are pet friendly. If you don't have pets, put out some Borax. Make some small cups out of aluminum foil and put the Borax in that. Jar lids work well too. Slide them around the baseboards, under furniture.

If you plan to remain an apartment dweller, look for small cabinets or old chest-of-drawers or dressers that can serve as a place to store goods. A small chest can sit behind a chair with the chair angled so as to reach the chest...and can be pushed a bit out of the way. People are discarding old TV cabinets and you can get these very cheap or free. They make great pantries.
