Using the height of a kiddy chair for reference, but legs from 2x4's or 4x4's so the table is sturdy. You can use plywood or sized planks to make the table top to the size you want. I would use metal brackets to secure everything on the underside, as well as perhaps wood glue or gorilla glue. If your grandbaby will be eating on the table, I would suggest putting an edge on the table that is slightly higher than the table top to allow for spillage not getting on the floor. A little bit of silicone to seal the edge would keep all liquids on the table and not sleeping through the edging and between the boards if you use planks to make the top and not a solid piece. If the table is big enough, you could put holders made out of thinnish wood to hold crayons, markers, etc. for when the child is working there. I would suggest sealing the piece with poly in a number of thin coats to make the surface really durable. I hope this helps you, Elle!
