Hi , I recently purchased 2 leather recliners and the headrest on one had a huge stain . The owner said there was a mark from sweat ? , hair products ? , she wasn't sure and used saddle soap on it . Any chance of fixing this ? Should I wash the rest of the recliner with saddle soap ? then a conditioner ? Thank you

Well I don't think that would hurt it, then go over it with leather conditioner.

I use Pledge orange clean on my leather chair, it cleans it really good, use a white cloth and spray the pledge on it, works for me. The stain it just from peoples oil in their hair, it should come off.

Lanolin leather cleaner conditioner would work best. There are lots of lanolin products marketed for various uses even hygiene products with lanolin. You will need enough to treat the entire chair. Chances are the stain will get bigger while rubbing it in, so draw it out, especially side to side to dilute the stain and move it across the whole top part and at least it will be even.

    Hi there,

If all else fails or is not practical, just cover it with a linen or tapestry headrest seatback that can be frequently washed. Or make a snood from old jumper to cover it.

If all above fails. Couldn't you dye the chair a darker colour to blend in better with the stain.

A good cleaner for leather may take it out, but it may stay stained. In that case once you clean the whole chair and use a conditioner on it, I would find something that would look nice on the top section, that is cleanable, would work well to cover it. The staining where the head rests will reoccur, it is just the nature of the leather to absorb most everything.

You can also paint leather. Check on YouTube. It's easier than you would think and comes out great.

Looks like the chair needs restuffing. Check to see if there are any hidden zippers. If so, buy quilt batting and wrap around the seat. Use poly-fill for the back cushion. Start by cramming a large amount on the back side only. Keep adding and adding then add some more. For corners, use a ruler to stuff it. Make sure there is plenty of stuffing at the zipper. After it is done the chair will look too puffy and over-stuffed. Don't worry, this will settle down in a few weeks. Make sure you take off all your rings before doing this project as they can come off and get lost.
