How to repair pressed wood mobile home cabinets?

2-3 of the pressed-wood cabinets under my kitchen sink have worn corners. I thought about using metal "corner" plates, but cannot find ones wide enough. I have 18 cabinets and drawer (total) and only three have any damage. I don't want to have to replace everything because of three damaged doors. Any suggestions?

Hi Lindsey. I'm Cindy. You could try to replace those three damaged doors. Take the measurements of the damaged doors with you and walk thru Habitat for Humanity store or a local salvage business. As long as the replacement doors are the right size, you could paint/stain them to go with your other cabinets. Wishing you well Lindsey. Good luck.

I spoke with my park management to see if any of the homes they were tearing down might have the doors I need. I never managed to follow through due to illness. That would be my next step. Thank you.

  • You can try take them down and fill them with glue and use clamps to try and pull them together again.

I've had a couple of unique ideas, but tonight I thought about just putting mosaic tile on the outside of the door after painting them. The tile would only be on the "inside" of the "groove" in the doors, while the "trim" would be painted. I thihk that would look nice and wouldn't cost much, especially if I only did the bottom cabinet doors. Thanks for your suggestion.

They aren't "separated", just worn. I found some rubber child protectors in the baby section of Walmart that look like they will work just fine after I decide what else to do with the fronts of the cabinets. I'll keep working on getting ideas.
