How do I remove a "lighting box" above my kitchen island?

I would like to remove the Box above my kitchen island. It houses two recessed lights. Can this be easily removed and replaced by pendant lights?

A photo would be helpful.
Sure you can change them out. But you will probably face having to do some patching once you take the box down, and this may mean painting the ceiling once the work is done. If you want to leave the box and just rewire pendant lights, you my still have to come up with a way to cover the holes.

Yes, it can be done. But you'll need electric run to each pendant light, you don't want wires visible.
