Pretty Pink Peonies

I always look forward to the peonies blooming in the Spring. Although their flowers are short lived, there is nothing that compares to their large showy blossoms.

Their sweet fragrance drifts through out the garden, especially early in the morning. Gorgeous blossoms and sweet fragrance ~ who wouldn't want that as part of their garden?

hi, love peonies like you! here's one for ya: how do you pronounce peonies? mom was from PA so she always said, peonies (like peon) with the emphasis on nies; me I'm a Virginian so I always say peonies (with emphasis on the "on" like ohnies). what do you say? and whats right? thanks!

I'm from Pittsburgh and I think I say it the way that you do.

From Michigan. We say it different, I think, than both of u! Like PEE-o-nees. Emphasis on the P part, obviously. Maybe that's why everyone says they can hear my Michigan accent?! No matter how u say it, they're still beautiful flowers.

haha, good one! me, I'm Southern so I say PEE onies, but I've heard Southerners pronounce the other way too...so...is there a right way? guess not

I looked it up in Webster’s Dictionary. It say pee-o-nee. So it’s the Michigan pronunciation.

Mine too. Used to have loads,of them in Michigan. Moving to Florida has done my flower garden days in unless I want hibiscus. I like them, but they are not pionies. And fern is not hostas.

Peonies are my favorite flower alongside the rose.

Strange fact is that they can't open their buds without the help of the ants. So the gorgeous blossom is a co-operative effort. Live and let live.
