Maybe with a snow shovel?
Lay a tarp on your lawn before the snow starts to fall. When it stops, just pull up the tarp and you have a nice sized clear area for puppy to go. Easy!
Shovel out a patch and add some salty grit to keep it clear.
We attached tarps from local dollar store from the roof to metal poles at an angle so we don't have to clear all the time, to the side of the house sheltered from the wind and then put down straw to cut the mud on warmer days. Leaves them clear space and worked so well we ended up doing more perm. version to cover our grill area.
