Hi Kristine, here are some ways for you to clean your hairbrushes. Once a month or so, shampoo your hairbrush to remove dirt, oil, and any built-up hair products. Holding the handle, swirl the head of the brush around in a bowl of warm water. Next, put a few drops of gentle shampoo on the bristles of a toothbrush and use the toothbrush to scrub the bristles and base of the hairbrush.

Yes I just went through this because my girls came home from school with lice in Dec. OMG!!!! Anyway, I am not trying to relive that horror story but since you asked...lol. You can boil them. Sometimes though depending on what the hairbrushes are made of parts of the plastic may melt slightly and reshape the brushes. It worked for us but then there is also putting them in the freezer for a week should kill anything. And last, the hairdressers use something called barbicide disinfectant where they keep the combs. I am sure that would work for a hairbrush as well. We have been keeping our brushes in the freezer in a bag and return them after their hair is brushed everyday. You might be asking for a completely different reason but I thought whatever kills lice would definitely be a good cleaning method. Good luck!
