Transform Old Baskets | Make Them More Modern!

If you have ugly, outdated baskets, don't throw them out just yet. Will a little bit of patience and a tiny bit of paint, you can help the tie into more updated home decor!

My house was overflowing with dark brown home decor! I've been slowly trying to brighten things up a bit.

BUT, buying all new home decor just isn't in the budget! If you can relate, this simple DIY is for you!

Step 1: Grab a paint brush and start painting.

Don't overthink this part. Painting the entire basket probably took no more than 10 minutes. I used Rustoleum wood stain in Driftwood. But, any gray craft paint would look great!

The difference is subtle, but it definitely adds a farmhouse look!

I used a dry brush technique to brush this onto all of the basket surfaces. In a few places I did wipe away a bit of the stain as I didn't want it to be too thick.

The dry brushing technique is simply using a dry brush and to give somewhat of a rough look to the surface. I used this same technique to update old mirror frames with chalk paint!

This is a super easy and inexpensive way to update old baskets or home decor!

See how I've painted lots of other home decor items for a simple update here!

Have a great day!
