Hi Barbara, sorry you are having problems with your new coffee pot. No one wants to drink a cup of coffee and have it taste like plastic. Hope this will help you have a great cup of coffee to start you day. Mix vinegar with water, half and half, and then repeatedly run it through yourbrewer, with a fresh mix for each brewing cycle. You may have to do this 10 or 20 times before you can brew a decent tasting cup of coffee.
Not that it may make much difference, but after scrubbing out the section of the coffeemaker's grounds holder, have you taken paper towels and Q-Tips to each of the crevices and the reachable portion of the water reservoir, as well as the lower tip where the coffee drips out from below?
Mine is much older than yours, but I always clean and dry the grounds section, the top half of the reservoir section, then leave the reservoir lid open until next use.
This may force me to keep an antique stainless coffee maker, if my current one ever "dies"...

Did you first clean it with vinegar and water, run through a cycle, then refilled with water and run through cycle 3x more.
If you have hard water, you may want to use spring water, which would improve the taste.
