I have seen posts recommending ammonia to clean cast iron. Will that remove the sticky residue that collects on them & the burner caps?
My favorite cleaning item for the year is called a Danny Duzit. It bought it at our church but Amazon does carry them. I use it on my glasstop stove and it works great without scratching. I'd try it. I use Dawn dish detergent with it. If it's really grimed up I'd scrub, let it sit and scrub again. https://www.amazon.com/Danny-Duzit-Scrubber-10/dp/B0779KSM9F?th=1

Loel,. Start with taking the grates off and soak them in hot water. Next, take the black circles off, an remove the burners itself. Wash the circles, and let them dry completely. Now take the burners and put them in hot soapy water, and let it sit, then scrub and dry. Put your toaster oven on just like for toast to dry the burners. Do that about 3 minutes, and shut it off. Clean around where the grates and burners will sit. When the burners are dry return then to the proper place. Turn on the gas, and see if they light, some may light only 3/4 through. Put a match by the holes to get them started. When their all lit, let it sit for a minute or 2. Turn the gas off, return the circles back in the middle of the burners, and return the grates. Then light it again, and make sure all holes have gas coming out of them. Aloha!
