Stained or painted? Stained, for good cleaning use mineral spirits then polish. Painted,just use hot soapy water and dry quickly.

Hi Judy, I would start soap and water and then move on to tsp if the soap and water is not enough.
MAYONNAISE ~ Put some onto a cleaning cloth. Rub in circles over the entire area. Let soak for a few minutes. Wipe with a dry clean cloth & buff.
