These easy DIY terrarium refrigerator magnets are a simple and fun way to display your air plants. Make your own to add a unique touch to your home decor in just 30-minutes or less.

I made this project a few years back. The daughter of a neighbor I went to Junior High School with came over once or twice a week to help me with projects. Mostly she helped me make cold process soap. However, we also made a series of fun craft projects together. These easy DIY terrarium refrigerator magnets was one of the projects.

This craft project is super easy to do. I love this DIY idea for some family fun on rainy days or even snow days. You should be able to find most of the materials for these easy DIY terrarium refrigerator magnets at your local craft store. However, the tins used I did have to purchase online. ( Visit the original post for my DIY terrarium magnets to learn where to buy the supplies you'll need.)

To get started, begin by placing the lid of a magnetic tin on top of a clear sheet of plastic. (If you can't source clear plastic sheets, clear unsanded shrink paper will also work.) Use a Sharpie marker to trace around both the inside and outside of the tin.

Then repeat this step for each DIY terrarium refrigerator magnet you want to make. (We made three.)

Next, use scissors to cut the circles you drew out of the plastic sheet. You'll do this by cutting IN BETWEEN the two lines you drew for each circle.

Now cut the circles in half. Use glue to glue the plastic half circles inside the open faced lid for each tin. Then allow to dry.

In the meantime, place gravel, moss and an air plant into the base of the tin. Arrange the rocks on the bottom with the moss and air plant on top.

Once the glue on the lid (with the plastic sheet) has dried, screw the lid of the terrarium onto the base. Adjust the lid so that the plastic half circle you glued to the inside of the lid covers the bottom half of the tin. This will hold the rocks, moss and air plant safely inside.

Once you've completed that step your project is complete. Now show off your DIY terrarium refrigerator magnets by displaying them on your refrigerator or any other metal surface.

To keep your air plant terrarium alive, just be sure to water your air plants once a week by misting or immersing the air plants in water.

I’m confused about one thing....Don’t the lids to these spice tins already have a clear plastic cover on them?

Could you post a picture of the finished product up close and on the refrigerator?
