Draw your layout on the floor, start in center of room, don't count on your walls being square. Follow your measured guidelines.

I have used a large scraper to get the floor clean of anything that will e under the linoleum. If there is anything ( a Little Rock etc) it will have a big induction or it will almost cut/gouge the linoleum from under neath. Do a chalk line where you want it... follow your instincts.. not the walls.. they will not be straight!

Depending on the kind of flooring you want just go over the linoleum. Glued down they and the glue be too hard to remove.

We had these red 50's style tiles with nook and crannies-- difficult to keep clean. We covered them with laminate wood floor. That was 20 years ago. Still beautiful and easy to clean!!
