Hi Deb, unfortunately not. Most enamel paint is oil based and acrylic paint or glaze is water based, so it won't stick

    You need oil based sealer.

I think it’s worth trying in an inconspicuous space, if the enamel paint has been up for a long time (year+) and the surface is cleaned w/ TSP.

What are you working on furniture/cabinets,or an actual painting/piece of artwork???? here is different stuff I found online about this-----You can also apply a glaze over an oil based paint, and yes, you can apply a clear oil based varnish over the glaze that's been applied over the oil based paint. It all depends on which coating system you plan on using. Some latex based paints called water-borne acrylics have self priming properties that aid in sticking to a lightly sanded oil surface. Some info. to read about this http://www.woodweb.com/knowledge_base/Glazing_Over_Paint.html More posts about paintings/artwork "I have painted acrylic over oil after the painting was dried and covered in a coat of polyurethane. It's been 10 years for that painting and it still looks good. When does the peeling start, if it will start, in your experience?" a little more "It wasn’t too long ago that there was no such a thing as water soluble oil paints but now there is! It should be possible to put a layer of glue over the oil based paint then the acrylic should be ok?" Got real curious about this because my daughter is an artist.
