Straight white vinegar wipe on let sit then wipe off Leave the door open when you are not using it so it can dry out Run quart of vinegar thru wash cycle on hot to clean out machine do this monthly

just use dryer sheets if you insist on softener better than liquid;don't put fabric softener on towels it coats the fibers making the towels more water resistant so they won't absorb water as easily;you can use vinegar as fabric softener too just add some to rinse cup instead of liquid softeners;to stop static cling add balls of aluminum foil to dryer-press them together really hard about the size of a baseball 3 in dryer is best; for good smelling laundry put essentail oil on damp wash cloth and throw into dryer with wet clothes or couple drops into rinse cup in washer

    Hi, Mildred,

In addition to Lynn's excellent advice, check your manual. Many newer front load washers strongly advise against using fabric softeners which create a film buildup on drum of washer/dryer.

Open the detergent drawer and clean it out, removing insert piece, if applicable. Leave this drzwer open between uses, as well as propping washer door open at least 6-8" or more.

I dry all gaskets after laundering.

Vinegar is good for clothes but a word of warning....used it in my dishwasher in the jet dry compartment....within a year the seals and hoses were leaking....repair man said the vinegar "ate" them up. My manual for my new dishwasher says to run an empty load on normal and hot temperature every six weeks with two cups of vinegar in a container on the top shelf. Also to not use vinegar any oftener.

  • Hi Mildred - There are several ways to get rid of mold, but most importantly, you need to address the root cause to keep it from returning. This article focuses on the bathroom, but is an overall great article that covers methods of how to remove mold, if bleach is safe to use, and how to prevent it from coming back. Hope this helps!
