Making garlands to decorate according to the time of year or simply to decorate any party or event is very simple, they are a very easy craft to do.

In this tutorial I explain how to make a heart garland and tassels to celebrate Valentine's Day and give a romantic touch to the decoration.

To make the hearts, use a piece of cardboard and trace the shape using a cookie cutter as a mold. If you do not have a cookie cutter, you can make your own template.

Take a piece of square paper, fold it in half and draw half of a heart. Then you cut through the drawn line and when you open it you will have an exact shape of the heart that you can very well use to trace the shape on the cardboard.

Make some small cuts on the edge of the heart (optional) so when you begin to cover with the thread does not roll. These cuts help the thread to fit and prevent it from moving.

This is optional but I share it with you because it worked better than when I did not cut the edges.

Begin to cover the heart with the thread until it is completely covered.

If you want your hearts to look thick, instead of cardboard use a piece of foam and do the same, trace the shape, cut and cover the heart with the thread. This way you save material and achieve what you want.

When you finish covering the heart, hide the end of the thread with hot glue and interlace it with the other threads. To give a different touch to your garland, what if you add a few tassels? To make them you can use something as simple as a scrubbing sponge. Make 50 laps and then cut a piece and tie a knot.Insert that piece under the 50 laps and tie a strong knot to make sure it does not come to loose. You can use that same piece to tie the garland or you can also repeat this step of cutting a piece of another color as shown in this tutorial, which was added a purple one.

Give about 5 to 6 laps of the other color thread color and tie it in the lower part as I show in the next photo. And then you cut out the bottom part.

Since you have all your hearts covered and your tassels ready, you are going to cut a piece of yarn as long as you want your garland and you are going to accommodate the hearts and tassels in the order that you want them.

Then with hot glue you can glue them on the back of each heart and the tassels you simply tie to the thread and the excess you can cut it or hide inside the top of the tassel.

And it's done!!!! This is how this Heart Garland to Decorate on Valentine's Day ended up. See you soon with a new tutorial...Stay tuned !!!
