They sell paint specifically made for doors at craft and hardware stores - especially for a front door. If you are painting all the interior doors, regular house paint should work.

  • Sand them down to get rid of any peeling paint. Go to Lowe’s or another paint store. Let them know what type of door you have (metal, wood, fiberglass), they will let you know what type of paint is best for that surface

Hi ! I 've seen small paint containers at both Lowes & home depot that are called front door paint ! They a a variety of colors . I would ask at the paint counter if the paint has primer in it already , or if you need to put a layer of primer first , if so which type of primer you need to use . If the paint is oil based , you need an oil based primer , if it's a latex based paint , then you need the kind of primer that works with that kind of paint. Before starting to paint your door , you need to scrape off all the loose flakes , to give you a smooth finish when you paint .

  • Definitely prep the surface by cleaning and sanding to get the chipped paint off. You can always use a bonding primer to make sure your new paint adheres to the surface.

you can also get paint made for back doors going by the name of yes you got it back doors.

The standard wood-look vinyl doors so popular now need a special primer. I think it can be used over Formica too. My chihuahua just made a mess of the painted door in my new senior apartment. I'll be instructing maintenance about the primer!
