How can make the rusty and granny aspect imitating oxidation on wood?

    Get a mason jar and put steel wool in it. Fill it up with vinegar and wait for the steel wool to dissolve. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Once it is completely gone use it as stain. Test it on another piece of wood before putting it on your clock. When buying your steel wool be aware that there are difference levels of coarseness. Get the #0000. This is very fine and will dissolve faster.

    Boil some vinegar in glass jar/bowl add cut up steel wool let sit over night (don't cover tightly this mixture creates gas) then paint on wood; before adding stain nick,gouge,beat up wood for more distressed looking wood (sand before staining if you do this to soften edges of nicks & dents,scratches here's video on making solution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP0pO-Xe0tQ&t=61s read comments too
