How to cover up yellowing cabinets?

Last year I painted my kitchen cabinets with white chalk paint and then put 2 to 3 coats of satin Varathane over them. Now they are starting to yellow. I have decided to re-paint them with white oil based paint. My question is...do I need to sand off all of the Varathane first? I am worried that the yellowing will eventually seep thru the oil based paint if I don't sand it off. Thank you for any help.

Definitely remove the existing varathane. That is so much work to have to fix so better to err on the side of caution.
Sand sheen off, then prime with oil based primer, then repaint.
White oil based enamel will amber over time. White acrylic enamel resistes ambering better. Use acrylic based clear finish for top coating.
