Hi Jeannie, Paint is always the cheapest option and makes a big difference. I just painted mine and I painted the sink cabinet. It looks so much better.

I usually do my remodeling in stages. In a bathroom as example- you might want to start with the electric and plumbing.

A new or salvaged fixture from craigslist or habitat for humanity can be quite reasonable. As can plumbing fixtures and a new vanity or sink.

Plan with a final vision in mind, but break it down into smaller projects. Painting is the least expensive thing to do and makes a nice change. Don't be intimidated that it isn't a complete overhaul.

Something as simple as a new medicine cabinet or mirror can pull together an old bathroom.

Whatever you decide be sure the plumbing is sound and that the floor is too.

You could paint the walls, the tile, and cabinets.

The cabinet is the best part as it is modern the rest is old

What about sewing a custom shower curtain that incorporates colors of tub and floor? Adding a larger, modern, mirrored interior medicine cabinet, new faucets to tub and sink, modern slim, long LED lights on dimmers on either side of medicine cabinet and complementary color linens can make a huge improvement.

New lighting, new/framed out vanity mirror, new faucet can make a big difference, you could stencil a wall. Fresh decor or a fresh coat of paint on the walls. If your cabinet is modern, go light with the walls.
