Oh noooo, sorry to hear that Julie. It sometimes happens that the tannins (or juice) inside the wood bleeds through chalk paint making it look yellow. Another possibility is that the wax wasn't rubbed or buffed in properly. Do you perhaps have a picture to share. What brand of wax did you use?
You should be able to sand the wax off to check whether the chalk paint itself turned yellow (bleed through from the tannins) or if there's a problem with the wax. If it's bleed through you'll need to sand the whole piece and apply a primer first - here's a really stunning article about how to prepare a piece for chalk paint - https://www.interiorfrugalista.com/2019/01/how-to-prep-furniture-for-chalk-paint.html. If the chalk paint still looks white then re-apply the wax making sure to really rub it into the chalk paint.

Hi Julie, you can use any kind of furniture wax over chalk paint since it's a water based product
You can use any type of wax on top of chalk paint!
