They are actually fungus gnats...you can treat your house plant soil...arbico organics will tell you what to use, I put a few grains of Clorox Crystal's in each drain to prevent them from laying eggs in the drains, yellow sticky ribbon tape sold on Amazon and hung near night lighted windows and I read diatomaceous earth spread on top of the soil works but I have not tried that yet. They breed hundreds of eggs, I read, and it is a problem for me cause they like warm moist air and I bring my elephant ears in for winter and grow veggies in my basement

a tiny dish of apple cider vinegar on the counter will drown them. they are attracted to it.
vinegar dish soap pinch of sugar cook sugar and water a littler as vinegar and dish soap and pour into container that they can not get back out of.
