Here I am again guys. I pulled out all 13 of my pulmerias from the pots they were in and theywere dripping from the rain, I put river rock and newspaper in the bottom of all the pots andnow today the wind is blowing cold and I'm wondering if it will hurt them to not be put backin the pots until tomorrow. I know its good to get these roots dried out, and now I will haveprepared the pots properly so they can drain and not get water logged. Please let me know ifits o.k. to leave them out for a day or two until the wind eases up. I will check online as well. Thanks Penne

Just to let you know that newspaper holds the moisture. That is why I recommend to put it into the hole before planting tomatoes. This avoids tomato from cracking since the newspaper acts as a mulch. If you have any coffee filters, this is good to use in the bottom of pots. It drains properly and holds back the dirt from seeping out of the holes. Keep your plants in a place where the winds are not too strong and it is not hot or else your plants may suffer shock from the sudden change. Place them in a shady area for a day or so and cover them if it cold and keep your eye on them.

Thanks so much, I was told here by a few people on Hometalk that I should use the newspaper, so I have planted 9 of my Pulmerias already using this method. As they are in pots, I have never

given them loads of water. Most people water them once a week real good. I just spray very

lightly every other day or so never giving them a soaking. The paper I put in was not a thick

bunch but just two layers. So hopefully they will be o.k. now. My patio is sunny in the a.m. and

becomes shady around 10:30 11 a.m. so they get enough sun. I live in Calif. and they seem to

thrive here, we just had 7 days of rain and I knew that would be way too much for them in the

pots as I had some rocks in the bottoms but needed bigger ones. Hopefully they will continue

to grow well as they have in the past.

Thanks for taking time to answer me. I think if I had ground space it would be a no brainer but

with them in pots Just want to make sure they thrive.

I grow Plumerias also. Mine are in pots. I use cactus soil with rocks in the bottom of the pots (for drainage & weight ) Just let them dry out for a day or two and place in the pots. You should be fine. Hope this was helpful

Thank you Mary. I have now re potted them and they seem fine. New little leaves are coming out and they are not soft or saggy. I let them dry out and them put larger river rocks in the bottom with one layer of newspaper. I hope the paper doesn't hold much water, as that was the first response I got and so that is what I did. We are expecting rain again this week and I think I will again move them under the large house eve I have and under the table so they won't get so wet. I just want them to have a chance to adjust to the new planting before they get wet again. I live in Calif. near Thousand Oaks and usually we don't see alot of rain. We do need it and glad to have it just not 7 days in a row and so much. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
