  • There is a powder you can get specifically for the fire ant hills. I hope that helps, we have a ton of them here in SC.

I live in AZ & the ants here are fricking vicious I use AMDRO ant bait granules works on all ants & quickly just add on trail & they take to nest it kills queen works in just an hour or two. If you put on mound doesn't always work because they panic & sometimes won't pick it up. It is poison I put milk crate over for a little while so nothing else gets in it/eats it. You can also use Boric acid but when you use boric acid if it's too strong it kills ants before they get it to nest so queen remains as does nest. here's some info. on using boric acid & it's the same for all ants https://deeprootsathome.com/fire-ants-kill-queen/

I haven't tried this but it sounds interesting, especially if you have children and pets.

When I first moved to coastal NC, 20 some years ago, my neighbor came over with a couple bottles of regular club soda and showed me his secret to a fire ant free yard!

He simply poured 1 bottle of club soda on each mound! The next day, all the fire ants were gone.

I'm still not exactly sure how it works, but I do know it works!

Please give it a try before using poison.
