Updating Your Deck for Summer - Turquoise & White Accents

My deck started out as a square box many years ago. It more than doubled its size and a pergola was added over 1/2 of it to add some structure and shade. Currently, the pergola end of the deck covers a black wrought iron table set recently updated with white outdoor curtains hung on the end of the pergola that faces west and which adds shade to a very sunny spot. In addition, a hanging wire light element is over the center of table, housing a battery-operating candle for ease and illumination.
Add Ambience with Outdoor Curtain Panels
Enjoy the shade the white outdoor drapes provide. These panels were purchased on-line through Bed, Bath and Beyond.
Purchase a curtain rod made for outdoors
I purchased three pieces of white rope in 4 yard lengths to tieback the curtains on a particularly windly day or when shade is not required. When not in use, they are housed in a glass outdoor candleholder.
Find unique options to hold functional pieces
Continue the white and turquoise color scheme in lounging furniture, pillows and other accessories at the other end of the lengthy deck. Turquoise pillows were purchased from World Market and the turquoise umbrella is a recent buy from Pier One.
Determine the "feel" of your space
Continuity is key in a space in which light and relaxation are needed. White, turquoise and black furniture are used throughout. Check out Chocolate and Sunshine for more details and photographs.
