Are fixtures with faucets on the deck at the end of tub out of date?

Many of the pictures I see showing free-standing tubs show the fixtures mounted on the wall or standing at the end of the tub or at the side rather than on the deck of the tub. Are fixtures with the faucets on the deck at the end of the tub out of date?

What is in style today will be out of style in the future. This is to sell products. Do what you like within your budget.
I think if you like them, then no. I personally like that style, and wouldn't change it if they were in my space. Remember that trends and styles change, but what's really important is that you're happy with them.
