How do I choose color for my cabinets?

Hi - My counters are a combination of black, grey and brown granite. Walls are a light grey matte . Kitchen cabinets are maple color. I want to paint the cabinets but have no idea what color the cabinets should be or what back splash color. It is a small open concept kitchen which allows plenty of light. Appliances are all stainless steel. Ideas?

Have you seen the kitchens with 2 different cabinet colors on top and base cabinets?

I can picture white cabinets on top and grey on bottom and a mixed color glass back splash to match all the colors in your kitchen.

Love the idea - are there any pics on Home Talk? I am a visual person :-)

Go white on top and black or gray on bottom

I am liking the black idea..

Any suggestions on what color white? I saw an antique white. To me it's just WHITE but apparently there are so many WHITE colors according to Mr. Lowes and Home Depot. I left with a headache and overwhelmed.

Hi Debbie, it's hard to say what color you should paint your cabinets and backsplash unseen. So many variations of the colors you mentioned.

Normally what I do is use my color swatch Paint chip book. Find all the colors in the book that are in your counter. Find the least 2 colours . Your cabinets should be the more dominate or darker color of the two. The backsplash should be the other color . This will make your beautiful counters colors and become your focal point. And it also ties fixtures and appliances all together.

Would love to see the before and after pics.

    Hope this helps

Where do I find this color swatch paint chip book? At home depot or lowes or online? Sorry I am very new to this.

Debbie - Most companies sell the large swatch books - but you can go to any paint store including lowes or HD and get individual swatches to take home. There are many shades of white and I would say a cool white would be best with the grey tones.
