Modern Spring Wreath

Modern wreaths are traditionally a circle shape, but have a non-traditional, simple aesthetic to them. Spring wreaths usually feature florals and greenery. The two styles combined are quite beautiful.

This modern wreath was made from an unexpected and upcycled base (the top of a small cable spool), and decorated with inexpensive faux greenery and florals.

I found the cable spool pieces at a local thrift store. If you like the look, but can't find exactly this item, your local hardware or craft stores will have circle pieces you can drill holes in to give them the same look.

I used white paint to add simple, imperfect lines to mimic the look and shape of vines.

I used greenery and florals from Dollar Tree, and even added a few sprigs of live greenery from my own backyard. Look around your local area and see if you have anything that would be interesting to add to your wreath.

I cut the grapevine garland to the size I wanted, and used this as a guide for where to build the rest of the greenery from there. I stapled the vine to the back using a staple gun.

From there, I simply just cut and hot glued the faux greenery leaves wherever I wanted them on the vine, tucking their stems behind the grapevine. I tucked in the live greenery, but didn't glue it.

Last, I added the flowers in the spaces they fit well. Hot gluing them as well.

To hang, I simply added a ribbon through the center hole of the wood spool piece.

Depending on the types of greenery and florals you choose to use, this design will fit in a wide range of home decor styles.
