I would make something with a hinge at top of ramp/bottom of trailer. It could be as simple as some plywood on a 2x4 frame and as long as needed to get horses up easily. The ramp would fold up and then the back gate would cover it. You will need a stop in the trailer side so it doesn't fall forward and hit the horse.

Most trailers are made low enough for horses to hop up into them. Many horses don't like the feel of a ramp because it's not sturdy enough under their feet and will balk at going up a ramp.

Train your horse to go into the trailer without the ramp. And to back out. Training the horse to go into the trailer without fighting you is most important if there is an emergency.
