So amidst the parts and pieces in my treasure room has been this dresser mirror. I have waited for the right dresser to come along...until I saw one turned upside down.

The materials I used were the mirror and a 1X6 piece of pine. The first task was to measure the bottom of the mirror and cut the board to fit. I attached the board to the bottom using 1 1/2 inch finish screws.

Knowing that this will be carrying a lot of the weight of the mirror, I used 8 screws.

I next taped the mirror and painted using Valspar Pure White paint. I distressed using my brush and then covered with a clear wax.

The last step was to support this heavy mirror to the top. Using a 4X12 piece of plywood, I secured the back of the shelf to the top of the mirror. I also made sure the hanging supports were heavy duty.

The mirror shelf was a relatively easy project that makes a great display in any room in the house.

Suggested materials:
  • 1X6 plywood.   (Mennards)
  • Valspar Pute White paint and primer.   (Ace Hardware)
