We bought a patching product at Lowe's; it was white and textured so it blended pretty good with our popcorn ceiling. Best wishes!

Also you may need the cut the edges of the crack slightly into a V shape, then fill it with with the patching product. The V shape allows the patching material to better fill the crack for a stronger repair, hopefully so it won't re-crack later. Word of warning DO NOT cut the V ALL the way through the paneling/sheet rock, stop the cut before you hit the paper backing (if there is such a backing).

This is the method I learned this while working for a company that remodeled aging Walmart & Lowes etc. stores (inside and outside, repair and repaint).

Accurate advice that I also know and used, I did buy a cheap can of 'Snow' at Xmas time and used it to finish off the repair. Looks great. Another time I touched up a ceiling with Kilz spray and it was also a perfect color match to the ceiling.

Be careful when working on your ceiling, it may have asbestos in it.

Whatever you do don’t buy that spray ceiling texture in can. Terrible product. Spend the money and buy the tub of texture spackle.

Home improvement stores sell popcorn ceiling repair kits. I haven't use any of them. I need to repair a crack in my ceiling as well. If you find a good solution please post it so I can use it too.

I have used painter's flexible caulk along a crack with an artist's putty knife to fill the crack and create a texture that blended. Chip off a little "popcorn" from here and there across the ceiling to stick in the caulk to really disguise the repair. Could do chunks on the boarder this way as well or cover those with crown molding or a simpler trim.
