A Teapot and Some Cactus

How do you handle cactus? With kitchen tongs! On my recent trip across country to New Mexico I was sent back with an old pottery teapot and cups from a friend. I had no idea at the time what in the heck I was going to do with them but I knew that I would plant them in the garden somewhere.
On our journey home right before we got out of New Mexico we stopped at an old truck stop to stretch our legs. Not

I think it looks rather cute. May get a new home as time goes on but for now it is a daily reminder of our trip across country

I drilled a hole in the bottom of the teapot and cups with my masonry bit

Filled with some rocks

Used these rocks for cups and for the top of the sand/dirt to pretty it up a bit

the cups are small so I cut off small pieces of cactus. I mixed sand and some compost/potting soil for the cactus and put rocks on top

the prickly pear that I stepped on is off the right in a hypertufa pot I made a few weeks ago. I every so carefully with the tongs maneuvered that cactus in the pot and straddling the handle to hold it up

I also like it right where it is. You have a beautiful yard.

Your yard is great! Would love to meander around and see what else you have done. 😺 The colors of the pots give the yard a little pop. Thanks! I use gardening for therapy, as well, when I can get out there. I have a bunch of Blue Willow I might try. 😊
