How to Paint a Garage Sale Wooden Jewelry Chest

Carlene at Organized Clutter gave her garage sale find a fabulous makeover with Dixie Belle Paint!

Can you believe I purchased this wooden jewelry chest at a garage sale and only paid $5?

I brushed on two coats of Caviar all over. I love Caviar Chalk Mineral Paint! Dixie Belle Paint distresses really easily, doesn't require priming or sanding, and doesn't need any type of sealer.

Then, I painted the wooden knobs with Drop Cloth Chalk Mineral Paint. To paint the knobs I put them on toothpicks and then pushed the toothpicks into a foam tree to let them dry without them touching the table.

I used my Old Sign Stencils buffalo check stencil to add a fun checkered design to the drawer fronts. I painted the stencils using Drop Cloth also. I laid the stencil diagonally over each drawer and made sure to line up the designs so they matched.

Finally, I sealed the whole piece with Dixie Belle Paint's Best Dang Wax in Clear.

I'm excited that icon I can store all of my Valentine's Day jewelry in my new jewelry chest!
