How can I sand down my engineered hardwood floors?

I have several spots on my engineered hardwood floors that are either scratched and or the finish /gloss has come off. How can I repair this?

They can be refinished. You'll need to rent the machinery and be handy with Sanders. I'd get an estimate. Runs around $2 sq. Ft.
Engineered wood can be sanded once. The wood veneer surface is thicker than laminate flooring. About 1/8 inch thick. I would check with the manufacturers website and see what they recommend or check with a flooring store. Not done right the floor is trashed.
