Hello Ryan! I can't quite see what color your front door is but perhaps you could paint the garage doors the same color as the front door.

Theyโ€™re currently a light blue. Sorry the photo isnโ€™t the best! Thank you for your time and advice!

    white is good

  • I would match your front door or even paint them black.

    match the shutters

I wouldn't change them. Your trim is white or looks white. If you change garage doors to another color, they will stick out more. I don't like a front load garage door or doors but sometimes it is what we have to have because of bldg. space. Even if you painted it the color of your siding, it still would not look as good as your white garage. They are pretty. If you wanted to build a small pergola/lattice over the entry into the garage, I would still paint it white. It would add some punch to the garage doors.

Perhaps some landscaping next to home would be very nice. It is a lovely home just needs a few small touches.

I don't care for garage doors on front of a home, but in this case make-em pop! These are super nice doors and they deserve to be showcased. If they were mine I'd paint the arch windows, but not their trim, and the insets of the lower part the same color as the front door and leave the divided light of the windows and the raised trim of the doors white. The iron work bars and handles will smile:-)

I agree with Dmotan. Leave them white. They are very pretty that way. They blend with the trim on the house. You have a beautiful house!

Here's my solutions to boring, glaring white and plain stucco. First we took

1/4" rough sawn plywood, cut into 5" wide planks, stained them with a color called Cowboy Boots and cut them to fit and installed them in a design to look like Tudor style timber framing on the walls of the house.

We have almond trim, but the builder installed a white front door and garage door. I hated it so we painted them a chestnut color first (picture #4), then it got boring so we did this Tudor style, livery stable door treatment with a color called Brown Buzz and the same dark Cowboy Boots color to copy the timbers. We also added the 'windows' to the door and magnetic hinges and handles in Bronze. Picture #5 is the front door before we added a new storm door in dark brown.

We added 5 wrought iron l-brackets to the side of the wall leading up to the front door and we hang plants and lanterns there to go with the seasons(look close and see plant in upper left corner of picture #5, brackets in picture #6). Been happy with this for 3 years now.

Don't be afraid to think out of the box. It's mostly just paint and it can be changed whenever you feel up to the task. Click See More at the bottom to see the rest of the pictures.

  • Shannon Kochel Keffer Shannon Kochel Keffer on Jan 31, 2019

Black paint,, the color will set off the whole house and look really rich.

  • Linda Linda on Jan 31, 2019

Paint them the same color as the body of the house if you want them to blend in.

  • Kelly Denoyer Russell Kelly Denoyer Russell on Jan 31, 2019

Keep white, paint black to tone down, the front door blue not my fave choice, house color to blend in or two tone to highlight the details. Keeping all raised trim white you could paint the background the house color or black. I think in this case Iโ€™d choose the house color.

Check out Minwax Gel Stain (5 wood colors) Lowe's for $16.?? a qtr. It took less than two Qtrs.to do my large two car garage doors, plus the side door to the garage. You do need two coats, it goes on easy and wait 24 hrs to do the second coat. My idea came from an AZ lady and two years later the Minwax gel had held up to the AZ sun! You may want to leave your white trim? You could start by not staining and see how it looks! You could also stain your house shutters, or even your front porch post and railings??? As designers say use a different color on your front door so people see where to come into the house. To see how it would look print a letter size picture on regular copy paper and get out colored pencils. (Even a light color brown pencil would give you an idea of how it would look.) Be sure to see what color looks the best with your house color, take a paint sample to the store or get a sample sheet to take home. Then check in different lights during the day. Good luck with your project!

Any color the same to blend, or darker than the tone of the siding would make them visually recede, then attention would be drawn to the pretty porch. I think the black to match the shutters would draw attention the same way the white does. I agree with other about matching your front door color if you love it. If you don't LOVE it, then pick a new color for both.

I used Minwax gel stain to change mine from white to brown. It worked great.

My old house was redone by a remodeling company. It was gray with white trim, like yours. They painted the front door apple red and the garage door black. They also painted the frame of the storm door black. It had white vinyl windows. Yes, they painted those black, too. It really looks good. They also added cedar to the front porch and a large iron curly q to a wall where there were no windows. It really dressed it up without making it look out of place in the neighborhood. They had a buyer before it was finished.

I know you only wanted to work around your garage doors treatment. Is it possible, and would you be willing to lighten the paint color in your front-door-and-porch area? That area is so dark compared to the garage door area... the house looks unbalanced. The garage doors look so much larger in comparison to the smaller porch/entrance area. It's a matter of proportion.

  • NotHermione NotHermione on Jan 31, 2019

Maybe darkening the garage doors and lightening the porch/front door area. Would be more balanced.

  • Chel Chel on Feb 01, 2019

    I would paint them black
