How do I get my flat top stove shiny again?

I have a beautiful flat black stove top… One of the burners is now either stained with little burn marks or something that might've overflowed in a pan. I've tried Mr. clean pads I've tried everything. Do you know if there's anyway I can clean this glass stovetop get that beautiful shine back?

Is there a DIY way to get this shine back to where it was. This is a brand new apartment and I really like your help. Maybe there is something I could find or you could suggest on Amazon. I would appreciate any help that you can share. Have a great day and thanks for caring. Bye

Wet the area down with vinegar let it set for 15 min or so. Then take a razor blade (one with only one sharp side) hold at 45 degree angle to scrape off heavy particles. Wipe clean then use paper towel to clean with baking soda & vinegar. Once clean use the Weiman glass cook top cleaner.

For future wait for top to get cold before cleaning. Use method above to keep clean & shiny.

Good luck. I want my old coil top stove back it was easier to take care of and when trays got too bad just bought new ones.

there are products in the grocery store you can buy specifically for glass top stoves. I would get the paste one and use that. it will take a couple of applications, but it should clean it up. use some appliance cleaner for around your controls too.

if your glass top still wont come clean and you can feel the ridge of built up burned food, use a straight blade razor to scrape it off. if you let this go too long the top will crack when you turn on the heat.

I use a baking soda paste and scrub in a small circular motion with a scrubbier. Then I use a vinegar spray and shine it up. For me it works every time.

Since I tend to stay away from grocery store cleaners, this is my method. Soak some paper towels and let them sit on the stove top for at least ten minutes to soften everything. Then, use a widget (a single edge razor blade in a special housing - you can find them in the hardware gadget section at Walmart) and scrape off as much goop as you can. Finally dump some baking soda on the surface and start scrubbing with the paper towel (you may have to switch to a sponge or scrubby) using circular motions. Then rinse until the baking soda is completely off. Polish with a dry towel. If there are still marks, I warm the surface for about 5 seconds and then turn the burner off and pour on enough hydrogen peroxide to cover the area. Once it stops bubbling, repeat with the baking soda scrub and rinse. That should take care of it. To prevent this in the future, once the stove top is cool enough, clean the surface with a wet sponge. Nice and shiny!

The absolute best product I have used on my stove is Weiman's. Got the kit from Amazon, comes with the cleaner, a scrubbing pad, a cleaning tool, and a cook top scraper. It is so fast and EASY. If you have a lot of build up, I agree that you may want to soak the surface with wet paper towels first. I always apply the clean to a dry surface. I tried several products and methods before I found this at Amazon and nothing worked as well. You can purchase a extra bottle of the cleaner and extra scrubbing pads. This product is not expensive, but very effective.

  • I use Bar Keeper's Friend (found in the grocery store where they sell Comet) and a wet non-abrasive scrubber on my glass top. Then I wipe it off with paper towels.

The instructions say to use a razor blade to carefully scrape off any residue, using the razor blade at an angle that is almost but not quite flat against the cook-top. . You want to be careful that you are not scratching the cook-top. Once you have all, or as much of the residue as you can get off with the razor blade, use a glass cooktop cleaner. I use Weiman Glass Cook Top (heavy duty). That might take off the residue if there is some you cannot scrape off. Mind you it may take quite a bit of scrubbing with the cleaner on a paper towel to get the residue off. I have made it a practice to use it often. A little bit goes a long way in almost daily cleaning, which usually only takes a few minutes. (one thing to keep in mind is that if you should spill sugar on the hot top it could cause chiping in the glass so be careful if you make a sugar syrup that it doesn't boil over.

    )

We bought a used house and the cook-top had some scrapes on it. By using the cleaner on a regular basis I found the scratches are slowly disappearing. I think whatever residue from the cleaner stays in the scratches might melt into the scratch, but that is just a wild guess on my part.

Good luck. Just remember to take it easy when scraping the residue off. Time and patience along with a lot of work might restore your cook-top.

I agree with Tricia, Bar Keeper's friend. Great stainless steal cleaner too.

The best product I have used is Cerama Bryte Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner. You can get a kit with a razer scraper, the solution, and a tool to scrub the top. I buff with a microfiber cloth at the end and it looks nearly new. It really is far and away the best product.

I use Cerama Bryte and a bottle lasts for quite a while even though I do my stove top after each use. It works really well. For bad burns, soak a paper towel with water and place over baking soda which has been sprinkled on the spots. This should loosen without any scraping. I would be leery about using any sharp instrument on my stove top. I rinse the top off with a cloth and clean water to remove any residue and make it shine.

DONT USE A RAZOR BLADE! You will ruin the top of your glass top.

use the baking soda and vinegar, or buy a good glass top cleaner.

stay away from the blades..that is a bad suggestion, its only food..

    its not dried paint!
