How can I hang this?
I bought two of these at Walmart and plan to paint them and hang above a toilet for extra storage of lightweight items. They don't have any kind of hanging device on them. Would the best way to hang them just be to hammer in two small nails under the top piece of wood or even into the top piece? They'd probably not be in a stud -- just drywall.

Nails won't work. You need screws and screw in anchors if not going into studs. Just screws if going into studs.
Screw in anchors

Hang Crates on Your Wall for Easy Storage
I would definitely screw them into studs. Make sure backings are strong enough to support whatever you will be putting on the shelves.
Hi ! I think you need to use screws ! Make sure , if possible that at least one of the screws can be put into a stud ! If not, be sure to use self anchoring screws
And don't put too much weight on the shelves/ crates . Good luck !
You can also hang them like you would a heavy picture. Screw the flat kind of wire eyes into the top section of the boxes and use picture hanging wire or cable. Then, using two picture hanging hooks equal to the task of whatever weight you think might need to be held (two, about 6 inches apart to keep the crate from tipping), hang the crate and level it. If the hangers are just above the top of the crate, it will be pretty flush to the wall. You can hide them with some of your bath items.
use heavy duty command strips to hang it .I used the 80 lb ones for mine in the bathroom for my crates
You could maybe use angle "corner" brackets screwed into each of the top corners (where the wood is thickest) if you didn't want the brackets to be so noticeable, but would definitely recommend anchoring just for safety purposes if not screwing/nailing into stud.
The command hooks can tear the coating off of the dry wall with too much weight. I know. I had a BROOM tear the command hook, paint and paper off of the wall. You really should use a stud finder. I found one at Lowes for under $20 that also shows electric wires behind wall. The crate is big enough to hit two studs or at least one using two screws at the top and bottom of the rungs of the crate, meaning one above the other. You should be able to store anything at that point. The brackets in the one picture above are pretty ugly. If you choose to do it that way at least buy decorative ones. Screw eyes will work if you attach them to the crate ends where the wood is sturdier then attach screws to the studs and hang on the screw eyes.
Make sure you use a stud finder before screwing or nailing into the wall.
Iād suspend them from the ceiling and use the top fir storage aldo
You need to use screws and if you want these in an area where you can't screw it a study, you'll need to use wall anchors because the crates have a certain weight to them, as well as what you add to them for decor means they'll be heavy enough to require screws. Best to safe and do it with screws, not just nails.
