Metallic Heart Garland

There was a time when I would save all the kids art work... I loved it, but learned that it doesn't take long to pile up and there just isn't enough room to save it all. I'm better now at picking and choosing the pieces to save these days. I was recently adding a few new pieces to the collection of art and found a painting Kadin made when he was 8 years old. He's now 15, but I decided to turn that watercolor painting into this metallic heart garland and I love how it turned out.

Start by cutting your paper of choice into hearts. You can use a paper punch or cut out by hand like I did.

Use a glue stick to add the metallic leaf to the paper.

You can stick with one color or use a few. I bought this packet from Amazon a couple years ago that came with gold, rose gold and silver. The link to this is on my blog post.

When the glue is dry, gently run the access leaf off the hearts.

Use a hole punch on the hearts and add a string for hanging.

This is my new favorite garland because of the history in the paper. Kadin is now 15 years old, but every time I look at this heart garland, I think about him as an 8 year old boy... and it feels good knowing that some of his art is being used around the house instead of sitting in a box in the basement.
