Your local carpet store can likely do that for you for a cost. Alternatively:

    A) Your local fabric store should sell a product called Fray Stop or Fray Check or a similar product. It is used to stop fabric fraying. You apply it at the base of the fibres (on a carpet with nap, from the back will likely be easiest to access). The product looks like a thin, clear nail polish only it doesn’t dry and peel as nail polish will. If the carpet is large, you’ll likely need a couple of the large bottles.

    B) The other option, if it’s a small piece of carpet, is to buy a complementary coloured strong fabric and cut strips of it [cut on the bias , a 45deg angle, if the carpet is round]. The strips should be at least 3” wide because you are going to be binding the edges of the carpet like a frame. Fold the strips in half lengthwise and iron the fold, so you have a crease running the length of the strip. Now fold the edges in to touch the crease and iron again. Now place it on the carpet edge, wrapping the edge, making sure that the carpet edge is touching the crease, like a hotdog in a hotdog bun. Pin or clip in place. You’ll then have to either sew it to seal the edge in the folded fabric strip, or glue with a good fabric glue. Hope that helps!

Hi Judy. I'm Cindy. We purchased carpet from Home Depot a few years ago. We took the remnants back to them and they bound them for us. We did pay a small charge for this, but happy with results.

Run a heavy bead of hot glue around the edges of backing and the end edges of carpet all the way around. this will also help the carpet grip floor and not slide around.
